Seier i første kamp

Lørdag 19. mai skinte sola over Oslo og Ekeberg. Det var klart for første runde i AFL Sweden West League 2012. Oslo Crows er regjerende mestere, og ønsker med det å forsvare tittelen fra i fjor.

Det skulle opprinnelig spilles tre kamper, men grunnet for få spillere hos både Karlstad og Gøteborg ble det bestemt at det skulle spilles Oslo Crows mot et samlet svenskt lag. Oslo Crows er også et sammensatt lag forsåvidt. Laget består av spillere fra Oslo East, Oslo West og Ås.

Svenskene satt tidlig standarden og ledet etter første quarter. I den andre prøvde Oslo å komme tilbake, men uten hell og svenskene ledet halvveis.

Tredje quarter var som de to første. Svenskene holdt godt unna og ledet med 19 poeng før siste quarter skulle starte.

I siste quarter hadde Oslo blod på tann. De satte inn fire mål på rad og lå plutselig fem poeng foran svenskene. Bortelaget hadde derimot ikke gitt opp og kom tilbake med en scoring. Og da skilte det kun et poeng igjen. Oslolaget hadde heller ikke gitt opp og det var en hard kamp mot slutten av quarteren. Rene ble blant annet sendt til legevakten med frykt for å ha brekt et bein i hånden, men heldigvis gikk det bra og det var ikke noe brudd. Ikke bare Rene måtte ut med skade, men det var også et par andre som slet med småskader.

Da et lite yr satte inn tok duellene seg opp og til slutt endte ballen hos Stoney som klarte å rote inn et nytt poeng for Oslolaget. Dermed sto det helt likt. Det gikk lenge før det ble avgjort, men rett før sluttsignalet gikk roter Oslo Crows inn et nytt poeng. Et poeng som sikret seieren med 9.9.63 mot 10.2.62.

Dermed er Oslo Crows på god kurs i seriespillet.

 

Victory in the first game

Saturday 19th of May, the sun was shining over Oslo and Ekeberg. It was ready for the first round in the AFL Sweden West League 2012. Oslo Crows is the reigning champions, and wishes it to defend their title from last year.

It was supposed to be played three games, but due to too few players at both Karlstad and Gothenburg, it was decided that it should be played one game. Oslo Crows against a combined Swedish team. Oslo Crows however, is also a combined team. With players from Oslo East, Oslo West and Ås.

The Swedes sat the standard early and were in the lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter Oslo tried to come back, but without success, and the Swedes were in front after half time.

The third quarter was similar to the first two. The Swedes kept well away and were ahead by 19 points before the last quarter.

In the last quarter, Oslo had blood on the tooth. They scored four goals in a row and was suddenly five points ahead of the Swedes.  The away team, however, had not given up and came back with a goal. And then it was down to only one point again. The Oslo team had not given up and there was a fierce battle at the end of quarter. Rene was sent to the emergency room with the fear of having broken a bone in his hand, but luckily it went well and there were no broken bones. Not only Rene had to leave the field with an, but there were also a couple of others who suffered minor injuries.

When a small drizzle set in, duels took up and the ball ended at Stoney who managed to poke a new point for the Oslo team. The point made it even at Ekeberg. Just a couple of seconds before the final whistle went, Oslo Crows got a new point. The point secured the victory with 9.9.63 to 10.2.62.

After the win, Oslo Crows are won their first game and are ahead in the series.
